Take A Look Back at Green Week 2018!
Each year UAL holds a Green Week and this year was no different. We held a whopping 27 events across the five days. Events ranged from beekeeping and gardening to a plastic recycling workshop and presentations from Greenpeace. Here's a reminder of all the events that took place to get you excited for next year
One of the most popular events was a plastics workshop where students learnt how to recycle everyday plastic waste such as milk bottles and coffee cups into keyrings. This event was three times over subscribed so make sure you snap your place up next year.
The photos show participants of the workshop cutting up the plastic waste, the mould used to create the keyrings and the final piece.
Another event was the Natural Dye Workshop. Our Mare St site has a garden where plants that can be used to make natural dyes are grown. The students learnt how to use these as a dye.
There was also beekeeping and roof terrace gardening workshops.
At the end of the week all students and staff were invited to the Skip Garden for lunch. This is a local garden and cafe where they serve food grown in the garden. The garden prides itself on reusing materials and equipment that would otherwise be wasted as planters, for example, you can see in the photo below a skip being used.
Thanks very much to Guillaume Valli for taking these photos.
